Wheel came off the moving bus, 40 tourists were killed in the rain Minken Digpahandi, 31.12 (Apr): The bus was going from Taptapani to Puri via Digpahandi. The speed of the vehicle was moderate. Suddenly, the front left wheel of the bus broke and the wheel came off. As a result, the bus rolled forward for about 200 meters. Fortunately, the bus stopped in that position. As a result, more than 40 tourists from Chandbali area of Bhadrak district have escaped a minor accident. The incident took place near Ganianal Chowk on Digpahandi-Bermhapur state highway in Ganjam district at around 11:00 PM on Wednesday. More than 40 tourists from Chandbali area reached Taptapani on Wednesday morning after visiting tourist areas of different districts for the New Year. After bathing in the hot springs there and having lunch, they left for Puri. The tourists screamed in fear after seeing the wheel coming off the vehicle. But the incident was averted due to the driver's quick wit. The tourists got down from the bus. There is talk in the local area that if the incident had happened on the Taptapani Ghati road, a major accident could not have been avoided. Digpahandi police station in-charge IIC and DSP Prashant Kumar Patra said that accidents are happening on the road because the owners are running the vehicle without necessary repairs and without fitness in the hope of getting more money.
