Government to Levy Excise Duty on Tobacco Products by Production Capacity from 2026

Satyamev Jayate Bharat Sarkar GOVERNMENT I OF INDIA Tobacco, chewing tobacco, flavoured tobacco and gutkha manufacturers take note MP JMP 43:02 MP MO Excise duty to be levied on production capacity from February 1, 2026 On tobacco, chewing tobacco and gutkha, when manufactured with the help of packing machines and packed in pouches, Central Excise duty will be levied on the basis of production capacity from February 1, 2026 Previously registered taxpayers are not required to register for new Central Excise registration As per the rules, manufacturers have to submit a declaration in a specified format to the concerned Sub-Assistant Authority regarding the details of machines present in their premises between February 1, 2026 and February 7, 2026 Shall submit. Sr. No. Compliance Due Date 1. Central Excise Duty Payment for a Month 6th of the same month 9.
