House Fire Destroys Home and Paddy in Alpur Village; Villagers Seek Aid

House and 25 bags of paddy burnt in fire Kantapada, 3112 (Apr): A house was burnt in a fire. On Wednesday night, the house of Gautam Dash of Alpur village under Oltpur police station was burnt down and everything was destroyed. A fire suddenly broke out in Gautam's paddy shed for some reason. All the belongings in the house, including about 25 bags of paddy that he had harvested and shared with others, were burnt in the fire. Gautam is devastated after losing everything. On receiving the news, the fire brigade reached the spot. With the help of the villagers, the fire brigade controlled the fire. The villagers have demanded government assistance for poor Gautam. The birth anniversary of Maharukti has been celebrated at the burial site of Maharukti at Langaldhuwa in Salepur Block Pikola Panchayat. Harijan Maharukti was born in 1357 AD. He left this world and lived as a saint and cured all diseases of people. His birthplace is Kishorenagar area on the banks of the Mahanadi River. He passed away on Pushya Ekadashi Tithi at Langaldhuwa.
