Odisha Education Sector Gears Up for 2026 with New VCs, 30,000 Teacher Appointments

A Vice Chancellor will be appointed in the university, teachers in schools. More than 30,000 teachers will be appointed. Buses will be built for school children. In 2025, the state government created a new chapter in school education by implementing the National Education Policy 2020, a call from the Education Department in the New Year. The nursery school opened, the Khadi Khara festival was celebrated. Notification was issued for the appointment of child nurses but the appointment could not be made. However, child nurses will be appointed in 45,000 schools by 2026. Similarly, 21,000 teachers were appointed in the last one and a half years. The process has started for the appointment of 15,000 teachers next year. The appointment of the Chancellors of various universities, which was stalled due to the Odisha Universities Act 2024 (Amendment), has given hope. The process of appointment of the Chancellor has started. In the new year, new Vice Chancellors will be appointed in 13 universities that were vacant out of 17 universities. The government has distributed more than 25,000 appointment letters this year out of the 40,000 appointment letters distributed in the last one and a half years. The government has prepared a plan to provide another 30,000 appointments next year. Out of this, 15,000 teachers will be appointed in schools. Not only this, as soon as the Vice Chancellor is appointed, the process for filling up more than 1400 vacant professors in 17 universities of the state will begin. The Chief Minister's Bus Scheme for school children will be started. Buses will be built near schools. The Godavarish Adarsh Primary School Programme in every Panchayat started by the state government has been accelerated. In the first phase, a financial provision of Rs 12,000 crore has been made for 2,200 schools. It is hoped that some schools will be started from this. Similarly, the new 6 Central Schools given to Odisha by the Central Government will open in this new year. Not only this, the children will study the school curriculum prepared in a new format according to the new textbooks in 2026.
