Student Collapses, Dies During School Sports in Sundargarh; Odisha to Build Large Godown

Incident in school annual sports competition, student falls while running Sundargarh, 3112 (Apr): The school's annual sports competition has been postponed. Hopes of winning a prize have been dashed. He fell while running. Such a sad incident has happened at Ekalbya Residential School in Sundargarh since before the New Year. The deceased is a first year science student of Plus Two, Jayadev Sagar Beck (18). He was participating in the 200 meter relay race of the school's annual sports festival on Wednesday. After crossing 100 meters of the race, he suddenly fell down. The school authorities took him to Sundargarh GMCH in an unconscious state. The doctor declared him dead there. On receiving information, District Welfare Officer Bhagirath Patel and ITDA District Project Administrator Dhirendra Sethi reached the hospital and conducted an investigation. Police have dissected the body and handed it over to the family. It is worth noting that Jaydev's father Phagunath Beck was teaching his son in this school for poor and tribal students. Since Jaydev was a good student, he had many dreams about him. But after his sudden death, Phagunath's dreams have been shattered. 10 lakh tonne godown to be constructed Bhubaneswar, 3112 (Bureau): Good news for farmers in the new year. Soon, the Food and Consumer Welfare Department will set up a godown with a capacity of 10 lakh metric tonnes in the state. Initially, the government has approved the construction of a godown with a capacity of 4 lakh metric tonnes, while later a proposal has been made to build another godown with a capacity of 6 lakh. This information was obtained from the departmental meeting on Wednesday. Departmental Minister Krishna Chandra Patra reviewed the various programs of the department. In this review meeting held at the departmental conference room in Lok Seva Bhawan, Principal Secretary Sanjay Singh highlighted the various programs and initiatives of the department. During the Kharif paddy procurement season, about 10 lakh metric tons of paddy have been purchased from about 2 lakh 28 thousand farmers in 18 districts so far and Rs 1790 crore has been paid to the farmers' accounts as minimum support price and Rs 552 crore as input assistance.
